Peri Mackintosh is a principle trainer at Konjiki Dojo. He has trained in Aikido for over 25 years and has taught in UK, USA and Norway. He is a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer at the Behavioural Disorders Unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital and has a Central London practice. He is an examiner and academic consultant for Metanoia were he was a primary tutor. He is a composer and movement artist with Ambient Jam, using improvised music and dance with people with profound disabilities and challenging behaviours.

Peri began studying vipassanna meditation in 1973 in his early teens, and later trained in Zen with Myokyo-ni. He performed as a musician then trained in dance at London School of Contemporary Dance and Laban Centre.

He developed work exploiting the task module .

He was commissioned to direct Abolition in Style at the ICA London, to mark the demise of the Greater London Council.

He then formed experimental song and dance company Proj-X.

He has composed music and choreographed for dance, theatre and TV.

Peri has a particular interest in the non-verbal in therapy and has worked with movement and music with people with severe mental illness and autistic spectrum disorders since the mid-eighties. He developed Freeforming with the members of Konjiki Dojo London and patients of the Bethlem Royal Hospital. www.i-u.org.

    I hope you are well. Thanks for your message. I looked at the website and the video on freeforming. I enjoyed watching you swing your stick!

    I’m getting stuck into Zen meditation with the London Zen Group and still teaching at the Actors Temple. I even found time to do a play recently. Enjoy the sun and very best wishes for your practice.
